Background : - The process of registration of madarsas was started by the Board of Muslim Waqf for the purpose of catering modern education to those children who were getting only religious education in these madarsas. In 2003 the Madarsa Board was constituted under the Department of Education. After the creation of the Department of Minority Affairs in 2009, The Madarsa Board was brought under the administrative control of this Department. At present there are 3454 registered madarsa's in the State of Rajasthan. 422 are of upper primary level and the remaining 3032 are of Primary level. These madarsas are located in various cities, towns, distant villages and hamlets. More than 204612 lacs boys and girls are enrolled in these madarsas where they are given for modern education along with religious education in these madarsas.
Objectives : - To provide modern education to children enrolled in registered madarsas. The following activities are being performed by the Board:
- To motivate madarsas in the State, to get registered so that modern education to the enrolled children as per the syllabus framed by the Education Department. Registration is done as per the Registration policy
- To provide para teachers to cater modern education i.e. in subjects such as Maths, Science, Social Science, English, Hindi etc. in registered madarsas.
- To provide teaching learning material in registered madrasas,
- To provide grants for infrastructure development in registered madarsas under Jan Sahbhagita Scheme.
- To provide facilities like utensils, dari-patti and furniture etc. in registered madarsas.
- To provide computers for students in registered madrasas.
- To co-ordinate with Education Department for providing free text books in registered madarsas.
- To co-ordinate with the Education Department for providing mid-day meal in registered madarsas.
- To co-ordinate with Medical Department for providing benefit of various health schemes in registered madarsas.
- To avail benefits under Schemes run by the Government of India for madarsas.
