The Directorate of Minority Affairs was instituted in the year 2009 with the creation of the new Department of Minority Affairs by the Government of Rajasthan. The Directorate administers all schemes of the Government of Rajasthan and Government of India aimed towards the welfare of minorities. As per 2011 Census, 11.41% of the population of the State is of minority communities namely Muslim, Sikh, Jain, Christian, Buddhist and Parsi.
The Directorate is headed by the Director who is assisted by the Additional Director, 3 Deputy Directors and 4 Assistant Directors.
The Department is responsible for ensuring the educational and economic empowerment of minorities and also caters to needs of specific groups such as students, women, artisans. The Directorate monitors infrastructure development in the minority concentrated blocks and towns of the State. The Directorate is the nodal office for the Prime Minister's 15 Point Programme.
